Doctors say: ‘A colonoscopy is the best prevention against colon cancer‘ Untill recently colonoscopies were considered as the best method to detect colon cancer. However, only recently new research has indicated that colonoscopies may not detect all colon zones - especially the right zone. Researchers, who looked at the health records of more than 10,000 people in Canada who were diagnosed with and died of colon cancer between 1996 and 2003, found the results of colonoscopies are not perfect at all. |

However, the American Cancer Society & doctors keep their positions: ‘the procedure of doing a colonoscopy is only as reliable as the practitioner.’
SOME ADDITIONAL ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE: When Cheryl Souille began having trouble with everyday activities she went to see her doctor. “I couldn’t walk or dress myself, or feed myself or do anything,” Souille said. Unsure what was wrong, Souille’s doctor recommended a colonoscopy. The test revealed Souille has colon cancer. After surgery, Souille has just begun chemo-therapy. “I’m getting some of my strength back,” she said. Souille says a colonoscopy may not be perfect but she’s living proof it works. “It’s your life. You need these check-ups. It can save your life,” Souille said. ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF COLONOSCOPIES: |
